Inside the App
How do F1 drivers develop their mental game? Through structured post-race debriefs. mental apex racing brings this professional approach to iRacing.
Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull all have dedicated sports psychologists. Nico Rosberg used mental coaching to beat Lewis Hamilton in 2016.
Why? Because the mental game determines who executes under pressure. You face the same challenges they do: anxiety before starts, frustration after contact, overthinking in battles. The stakes are different. The skills are the same.
I'm a solo dev with a full-time job and a family, so I need to make every session count. Reflection helps me improve, so I tried using ChatGPT as a coach. But I had to explain every race from scratch, and it kept losing track of my goals.
So I built the coach I wanted. One that already knows what happened and notices patterns across races. I built it because I needed it, and I think you might too.
Your coach already knows what happened. Start your debrief.
With ChatGPT, you spend time explaining instead of learning. Your coach knows you lost P3 at turn 7, had contact on lap 4, and ran your best sector times in the final stint. With ChatGPT, you get generic advice because it doesn't know what actually happened. And it forgets everything between sessions, so you can't spot patterns across your races or build on previous conversations. Your coach here captures your race, helps you process what happened, and remembers your coaching journey so every debrief builds on the last.
Yes, you log in directly through iRacing's official authentication system (OAuth), so your password never touches our servers. This is the same "Sign in with..." pattern you see with Google or Steam. iRacing has to approve apps before they can use this login method, which is why we're listed as an official integration.
The beta is completely free. I'm not charging until I'm confident it's genuinely useful and high-quality. Join the waitlist and you'll get access as I expand testing.
A Windows app reads your iRacing telemetry files from disk after each session. It also connects to the running iRacing instance for video sync and to detect when you have new sessions to debrief. Your coach is powered by a large language model and has full context of your session before you start talking, so there is nothing to explain. Since mental apex racing is registered with iRacing, you log in with your iRacing account and don't need a separate account.
